John D. Howard is a former Air Force engineer and test pilot who currently works in the Security and Networking Research Group at the Sandia National Laboratories, Livermore, CA. Dr. Howard's projects include development of the SecureLink software for automatic encryption of network connections. He has extensive experience in systems development, including an aircraft ground collision avoidance systems for which he holds a patent. Dr. Howard is a graduate of the Air Force Academy, has Master's degrees in both Aeronautical Engineering and Political Science, and has a Ph.D. in Engineering and Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University.
